GDPR stands for General Data Protection Regulation and replaces the previous Data Protection Act. GDPR states that personal data should be: • Processed fairly and lawfully • Collected for specified and legitimate purposes • Individual’s data is not processed without their knowledge and is only processed with their consent.
GDPR means that Ascot Academy of Dance must: • Manage and process personal data properly • Protect the individual’s right to privacy • Provide individual’s, when requested, with access to all their stored personal information Ascot Academy of Dance (AAD) is committed to protecting the rights of individuals with respect to the processing of children’s, student’s, parent’s and freelance staff personal data.
GDPR gives individuals the right to know what information is held about them and provides a framework to ensure that personal information is handled properly.
The AAD is required to collect and manage certain data. The AAD is required to know Parent’s names, addresses, telephone numbers and email addresses. The AAD is required to know children’s and student’s full names, date of birth, and any SEN/Medical requirements conditions. The AAD is required to provide this information to The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead for the purposes of school shows and to chaperones in respect of Health and Safety and the safeguarding of children. The AAD is required to provide pupil’s data to the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing for the purposes of Ballet, Tap and Modern Examinations. Data, including photos/ video footage will be kept and safely stored on a secured device and /or locked cabinet or cupboard. All paper copies of children’s and student’s data are kept in a locked filing cabinet/ cupboard. Teachers have access to these files but information taken from the files regarding individuals is strictly confidential. The AAD holds photographs / video clips taken during shows, competitions and events at the Academy and may be used for Academy purposes such as Academy website and other promotional material. All phones, iPads and computers are password protected.
