Melody Bear Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves®

Classes for our younger begining girls and boys .
Thursdays 15:45-16:30.
Take a journey on Melody Bear’s Fun Bus stopping at the Games, Number and Musical stop. The final stop is Melody Bear’s Tip Tap Toe stop for lots of fun tap dance ideas including the ‘Boogie Woogie Bend and Bounce’, ‘Magic Shoes’, ‘Disco Bears’, ‘Hawaiian Tap’, ‘Melody Bear’s Cheerleading Song’ and her ‘Line Dancing’ to name a few.
Rhythm and tempo, beats and sounds are explored in fun creative exercises in our early years tap dancing syllabus

Younger children

From age 3 children can take part in fun Tip Tap Toe & Groovy Moves® classes.
From age 6 we offer I.S.T.D Modern and Tap from Primary upwards, entering children and students for their examinations. ​

Older children/teenagers

Pupils gain enormous benefit through fitness, style and musicality. Older children and teenagers can start Tap & Modern classes as beginners. If they have been ballet dancing for a while, many take up tap and modern to extend their range of dance techniques. 

Adults

Mixed ability classes in South Ascot. Friday mornings. Fun and friendly fitness classes for adults whether complete newcomers to dance or rusty returners.

Exams 

The Academy offers tap and modern exams at all appropriate levels. Pupils find this challenging and rewarding to have something to work towards. Exam entry is optional if you wish to follow the syllabus without formal examination.

Shows

All tap & modern pupils have the opportunity to take part in the shows that are staged by Vanessa Gardner. Dances are specially choreographed for the class size and ability levels. Recent shows have included Fire & Ice where, amongst others, the tap dancers did a wonderful penguin dance. 

The Tapathon

Ascot Academy of Dance pupils and teachers are regular participants in the national Tapathon event. This annual event brings together dancers from across the country who are trying to break the World Record for the most tap dancers simultaneously dancing to the same routine and music, while having fun and raising money for BBC's Children in Need Appeal.
